With her ukulele and haunting voice, Rebecca combines her passion for folk music with a contemporary, ethereal twist.
Audiences have described Rebecca’s performances as "Simultaneously heartbreaking and life affirming" and “deeply moving - not only your voice but the lyrics and connectedness I felt as I listened. You have the ability to touch people's soul.”
"See this lady!" John Martin, The Lorelei
A must-see live show for fans of Ivor Cutler and Boo Hewerdine.
Rebecca grew up in a small fishing village, on the bank of the burn leading into the Moray Firth and draws from connection to natural places, the nature/ culture dichotomy, community life, feelings of belonging, and use of space.
“Lyrically she mines rich seams of community experience and nature.” Boo Hewerdine
Awarded an artist’s commission from Aberdeen Performing Arts in 2022, Rebecca worked with community gardens, inviting residents to 'have a chat about the weather'. The conversations inspired new work exploring a contemporary, post-covid perspective on lived experiences in Aberdeen, which was featured at the Aberdeen Wonderland Festival, and subsequently released as ‘Nice Day, Isn’t It?’ – Rebecca’s debut EP. The EP was well received, with considerable radio airplay, and radio interviews.
“Ivor Cutler with the voice of an angel” Cigarbox Don, The Slim Panatellas
“I’m a big fan of Rebecca’s songwriting and voice” Chris Pepper, Saltwell Studio
"My favourite songwriter in town" Nassif Younes, SWYM
"You have the voice of an angel. I was deeply moved by not only your voice but the lyrics and connectedness I felt as I listened. You have the ability to touch people's soul. You have a gift to give. Thank you for mine." audience member
